2. Salar de Uyuni, Bolivia
This is known as the world’s largest mirror, that too, a natural mirror. The Salar de Uyuni is the world’s largest salt flats, so flat that the average altitude variation over the entire stretch of the 11,000-square kilometer landscape is no greater than one meter. It was once the base of a huge prehistoric lake that dried up, leaving the salt behind. One can see beautiful reflections of the sky and of other people from a distance in this serene landscape. It is popular among flamingos.

3. Mendenhall Ice Caves, Alaska
The Mendenhall Ice caves are a surreal site to behold. The Mendenhall is a giant 13.6-mile-long glacier in South Eastern Alaska. The ice caves were formed when the lower layer of the glacier started to melt, causing a river flow inside and under the glacier. The river flow over time carved this beautiful cave, the insides of which make you feel like you are trapped in a stunning turquoise bubble-house. The view of the glacier from under it is absolutely breathtaking. However, the ice that is constantly melting at a high rate due to global warming can cause the ice caves to fade away sooner or later.

4. Tianzi mountain natural reserve, China
This one might just remind you of the movie Avatar. The Tianzi mountain reserve is one of the four scenic spots of the Wulingyuan Scenic Area, that has magnificent, giant mountain peaks, rising one after the other. One can find spectacular views of the peculiar-looking mountain peaks that became the inspiration for the planet ‘Pandora’ in James Cameron’s Avatar. The entirety of the area is sacred to many Chinamen.

5. Lake Hilier, Australia
Lake Hilier, or the ‘Bubblegum lake’ is a lake in Southern Western Australia that has baffled people for centuries since its discovery. The salt content of the lake is comparable to that of the Dead Sea itself and the only way by which it is accessible is through a helicopter. The logic behind the pink colour of the lake is the presence of a microorganism that react with the salt in the lake to give out a pink hue. So basically, you can fill an empty bottle with water from the lake, but its colour will remain pink!
